Author of The Dark Secrets of SHTF Survival and the online course SHTF Survival Boot Camp

I am still realizing and finding out why certain things happened during events that occurred 20-30 years here in my region. I am actually pretty sure that I may not ever understand why exactly other things happened during violent events in 90s here while I am still alive. History works in slow ways, and what is more important, some parts of history stay hidden forever. In other words, we usually see history as a regular “line” that is a clear and straightforward chain of events, without too many nasty truths.

Some events or reasons for those events, or actions alone that led to events, do not exist for official history.

There are ways that you can access those “nuggets”, or real historical events that never happened based on approved history.

Sometimes they are told to you by the witnesses or people that took part in the events. In that way, you can get bits and pieces of history, how it looked on the ground, and usually, you’ll be shocked how “real history on the ground” is completely different from the official one, no matter what event or timeline we are talking about.

Sometimes you can find it, again in bits and pieces, in places that share alternate views about historical events. Those places are usually being ridiculed by the official side as conspiracy theories, a bunch of weirdos, etc.

Sometimes they are nothing more then conspiracy theories and weird content produced only for money-making. But sometimes there is more there, so the authors are more than ridiculed, they are getting silenced, in one way or another.

Real history is always much more interesting than the official one. And by saying that it is always much more “interesting” than the official version, I mean it is more ugly, dirty, and treacherous.

Ideals and reality are very different.

Some of my ancestors were guerrilla fighters in WW2.

One of them was 16 years old when he joined an uprising in 1941 in the Balkans (against the Italian and German occupying forces), and years later, as a kid hanging out with him and his war buddies, I got bits and pieces how all that looked.

I glued together all those bits and pieces, and found out the story about a young man, almost a kid himself, together with a whole bunch of similar kids, joined the resistance led by the Communist party against “invaders in the Motherland”, hunger, fights, civilians getting slaughtered during a “100 locals will be shot for 1 dead German soldier” mandate, endless walking through woods covered in snow, etc.

I had history classes in school, but they too were kinda different from official history. Those classes told us one side was noble and the other, animals.

Then I heard stories and figured out that together with their fighting against Germans and Italians they also fought for “world revolution”, a society of equality, where workers gonna have all the same rights, and all people will be happy. It was a revolution against those who “use people only as a labor force while they are getting richer.”

And then I learned how they realized that they got a society where still there are folks who are “more equal than others” as Orwell would say, and that socialism was not such a shining beacon like they thought when they fought.

I again glued that opinion together from bits and pieces, because it was not something that would be said at that time in a clear way.

And it was pretty shockingly different than the stuff we learned in school.

One of his sayings that I memorized was “rifles do not have a mouth” (a rifle does not speak). In essence, it meant if you hide your weapon somewhere, it can stay there forever unless you brag about it.

The rifle will just stay there as long as it needed to stay, up to the moment when you gonna need it, at that time when you have to use it. And you do not talk about it to anybody. One day when you realize the rifle is needed, you will take it and use it.

In communist society owning a “black” (illegal) weapon was highly punishable, mostly because it was taken to mean that if you own it you are against the system, and being against the communist system in that time was not fun at all.

But, as he stated “a rifle does not have a mouth” so it stayed hidden there for many years. Luckily for him, he was not alive to see the next carnage in the Balkans. That rifle “spoke” again then, but it used by other people after it was found by pure luck.

Here’s how this relates to you.

Now, you may conclude that Selco again writes about “beautiful” history from the Balkans and that all that does not have too much with events where you are, but here are a couple of thoughts for you:

You never know who and how the strings are pulled for the events that are unfolding around you, and how based on that your reality may look tomorrow.

Getting your head offered for ideals sounds noble, but try to think for who you are actually offering your head, is there some agenda there behind all that? The real agenda may be actually completely and absolutely against your core beliefs and your nature.

Talk with old people. They have precious life experience that can teach you a lot.

And last, but my favorite:

ALWAYS have that “rifle without a mouth”, one that you and you only know about it, and let it stay like that. Only you need to know about it, because there might be a day coming when you have to use it, and the days before that day there will be a time when “rifles with mouth” or weapon that you officially and legally own may be taken from you, regardless of your Constitution.

Selco survived the Balkan war of the 90s in a city under siege, without electricity, running water, or food distribution. In his online works, he gives an inside view of the reality of survival under the harshest conditions. He reviews what works and what doesn’t, tells you the hard lessons he learned, and shares how he prepares today. He never stopped learning about survival and preparedness since the war. Regardless what happens, chances are you will never experience extreme situations as Selco did. But you have the chance to learn from him and how he faced death for months. • The time you need the rifle is when they want to take them away. Burying it and waiting can mean that the time for it’s use will never come again. As in this case, not in his lifetime.

But you could have helped stopped all that suffering, that that regime caused, if it was not buried away.
Somehow, I would not want that to be part of my legacy.

I know that some warriors see to much war and death and don’t want to get involved again, so it is up to the rest of us to carry on.

Never start the fight, never run to get into the fight, but always finish the fight.
Those are words to live by.

    • Actually time for rifle is when you can make difference with your rifle, or when you can save your life with that rifle.
Burying and waiting is just that- hiding it away, and waiting for the time to use it.

Time when “they” want to take away your rifle is because they know you own it, and at that time they will not ask for it, and you probably will not have chance to make any difference, or to save your life with that rifle, because they will not ask nicely, and they will come usually with superior force.

Do you think in that moment you will own superior firepower?

Rifle is “buried” (or hidden, or not tracked in system) because you should want to use it when you have let s say tactical advantage.

You should fight not when they (who ever they are) want, and when they are ready, because they gonna be much more ready then you.

Always avoid fight if possible, always start fight first if you HAVE to fight

  • You’re touching on an issue that is a great problem today.

    What is True?

We watch the news – read the papers – scan the Internet, and it’s getting more and more difficult to determine what is true.

It’s been said that history is written by the victors. Well, today even current events are being written by people who are not to be trusted. Perhaps they will insert a little truth to make the whole narrative seem true, but there is usually much that is left out or much that is intended to mold our thinking. That leaves us with a challenge – to find out what the rest of the story is. To find out what is True.

We might consider that we are all judges. We must have evidence presented to us from all sides before we can make a proper judgement on any issue. We must set aside any prejudices, and only look for what is true.

Then, good luck trying to convince other people that you have found what is true. Nearly all of America (perhaps the world) is set in their beliefs that will not allow for truth to be presented. No matter the argument or the evidence, many WILL NOT accept the truth because it goes against what they’ve always been taught.

We’re in a world of hurt right now, and I don’t know how we can escape the destruction.

    • @ Stephen

You’ve made some really good points. If you make a point to read several “brands” of MSM, sometimes it’s almost like you’re not reading about the same event as the views are so different. News sites have mostly just become Op-Ed and Opinion page mouthpieces. I don’t watch TV but I’d assume the same is true there. So people gravitate to reading or watching what fits their world-view and it’s almost as if we’re living in different worlds from each other now.

    • “I guess you could say I’ve got a silent crowd LOL”

You just advertised your silence on the internet, leaving your IP address for follow up.

  • I appreciate your article here, Selco. Not speaking about weapons/resources a person has is a basic part of operational security and that’s always a good thing to keep in mind. It’s true that right now truth is hard to find. If a person takes their news from a wide range of sources, and at the same time pays attention to what they see with their own eyes, they will have a better chance of finding out what’s really going on.

Pattern recognition is important right now, as is looking for trends. Keep in mind that you can learn a lot from any point that the mainstream media seems to be running into the ground – always ask yourself “who does it benefit?”

Finally, if history is being covered up, if statues are being knocked down, if children are being taught the wrong facts, that’s a serious sign of a problem. If we operate with bad information it’s much harder to make good decisions. If we bury history then we bury the lessons we could learn from it. This is a great time to read old textbooks of all kinds.

    Stay sane!

  • “Oh, that can’t happen here.” I have heard that many, many times. This Spring in a little less than a month almost the entire American economy was shut down, people were locked-down, and in many instances basic individual rights were nullified. Who would have thought it would happen here?

In the past two weeks we watched as lawless mobs ransacked, looted, and destroyed the urban centers of many American cities as police and elected officials did nothing to stop it. We watched in disbelief as police, elected officials, and even members of the National Guard went to their knees when demanded by the rioters in solidarity. Who would have thought that would happen here?

Currently words are being banned. Statues are being torn down. Classics are being removed. People are being shamed and even losing the means of earning a living because of voicing their opinion that differs from the radical leftist viewpoint. Familiar corporations are lavishing millions of dollars on radical communist organizations. Who would have thought that would happen here?

What else need be said? Anyone still think “It can’t happen here”? If allowed, they will be coming for you and me and everyone else not like them. Just ask Selco.

  • The revision or destruction of history has been pervasive for thousands of years. Here are some randomly picked examples, beginning with a few quotes:

It is not necessary to bury the truth. It is sufficient merely to delay it until nobody cares.
    Napoleon Bonaparte

    and

History is a set of lies agreed upon.
    Napoleon Bonaparte

    and

History is the version of past events that people have decided to agree upon.

What is history but a fable agreed upon?

I think perhaps of all the things a police state can do to its citizens, distorting history is possibly the most pernicious.

    Robert A. Heinlein

Finally, even to simply read any of Daisy’s articles that have been emailed to my gmail account, I have save that link elsewhere and then bail out of gmail completely and either use my browser’s Incognito Mode to pull up Daisy’s article OR use a different browser altogether to keep gmail from blanking out the entire left half of any of Daisy’s articles I wish to read. Joseph Stalin would have been envious of Google’s data bullying.

    • gmail sounds even worse than I thought. I have had a few censorship problems with yahoo. I have not had any with protomail.com. But protonmail claimed they were private, secure, encrypted and it turns out that those are all lies. Do not trust a liar.
You need to find a better email somewhere. Let me know when you do.

  • I spent 2 tours in Germany. I lived among them first tour. I learned a lot from not only my landlord but Ompa about the nazis.
They even let me in on a few of their secrets that you speak of.
