Author of How to Prep When You’re Broke and Bloom Where You’re Planted online course
Last night I got a text message from my daughter, who works in a very upscale restaurant in a downtown North Carolina city. She sent a video (which I have no idea how to upload – sorry) and said there were more protesters outside than she had ever seen. As night began to fall, the protestors grew louder. Popping sounds were everywhere. So were the police, she told me, every few feet between the protestors and the downtown businesses. Multiple streets had to be shut down as “hundreds” to “thousands” of protesters took them over. (Depending which news agency you trust with the numbers.)
As a downtown employee, my daughter is not a newbie to protests occurring outside the restaurant window. But this time, she said, it was very different. There were more people than she’d ever seen and it was just a Wednesday night.
Wisely, instead of walking home like she generally does, she opted to sleep over at a coworker’s place in a high-rise only steps away from where she works. She said they made it there with no trouble whatsoever but both girls were extremely relieved to get inside.
One thing struck me. It’s only Wednesday. The “No Kings” protests are scheduled nationwide on Saturday, not coincidentally, the same time as President Trump’s long-awaited Grand Military Parade to celebrate the 250th birthday of the US Army.
Please note that this article is not a “prediction.” I didn’t peer into my crystal ball before writing it. I’m sharing what is already occurring and what is scheduled to occur. There is a definite trend of violence right now, and things like that are contagious. That trend could easily spread across the country, even into places where we don’t expect it.
It’s more important than ever to get early warnings. The secret weapon that I’ve used for years is a service called Alerts USA. This is a service that sends text message alerts directly to your phone when an event of national significance occurs. You get Homeland Security threat and incident notifications straight to your device. (Obviously, these are the unclassified warnings.) I have found this to be completely unbiased and factual and I strongly recommend it, especially in times like these.
What’s happened so far
In downtown Los Angeles, all hell has broken loose. Cars and structures are burning while people pelt police with rocks, bricks, and firebombs. Stores are being looted. Property is being destroyed. Federal agents are being targeted. Foreign flags are being waved in the midst of it all. T
he chaos was allowed to happen with little resistance until the President stepped in and deployed members of the National Guard to the city to keep the peace. This has been followed by 700 U.S. Marines deployed to the city.
Here are a few clips from those “peaceful protests.”
If it wasn’t for 𝕏. People would think the riots in Los Angeles California were ‘mostly peaceful’ currently @elonmusk deserves a million “Thank You’s” for buying 𝕏 ❤️ pic.twitter.com/jSfJomopwq

Further violence has been reported in other cities, such as San Francisco, New York City, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Chicago, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. Don’t worry, protesters are also taking care of those pesky Adidas and Apple stores, too.
In many of these events, federal officers have been directly targeted, cars set on fire, rocks thrown at law enforcement, and Molotov cocktails deployed.
What to expect on Saturday
On Saturday, “No Kings” rallies are scheduled nationwide. Just look at this map.
To find out if there are protests in your area, you can go here and put in your zip code to zoom in and get the locations to avoid.
While I urge you to expect violence and be prepared for that, we can hope that common sense prevails in most of the country, and the protests are peaceful and constitutional.
It only takes one person on a payroll (and yes, see the video below – people ARE being paid to be there) to kick off violence between law enforcement and protestors.
It’s not that difficult to incite violence. Someone in the crowd makes a dangerously aggressive move that causes law enforcement to respond harshly. Actual innocent protesters find themselves under attack by law enforcement and fight back. Match, meet gasoline.
Please remember – protesting is protected under the United States Constitution. There are lawful and peaceful ways to make yourself heard. Just because there is a protest, it doesn’t mean that the people there all have violent intentions. I remember being an idealistic 20-something. Maybe what I thought was “best” then was colored by naivety, but I remember the feeling of “someone has to do something.”
Now, if a protester is being violent and attacking passersby, that’s an entirely different matter. Just use your discernment to figure out what’s really occurring.
How to prep for it
In the wise words of Selco, the best way to stay safe is, “Don’t be there.” Unfortunately, in cases such as my daughter’s, that isn’t always possible. If you’re at work and the situation erupts around you, you may find yourself “there” and you have to handle it the best way you know how.
Just because a protest is scheduled near you or someone you love, it’s not guaranteed to be violent and dangerous. However, it appears that there are numerous agitators scattered throughout, including individuals who are not here legally, who are determined to turn a march into a battle.
Here are some links to help you get prepared for the days ahead.

I’m not urging you to be afraid. I’m urging you to be prepared and to know what you may need to expect.
What are your thoughts?
Are there protests scheduled near you? How are you preparing for this? Are you concerned about violence, looting, and fire? Let’s discuss it in the comments section.

Oklahoma City here. The “protests” in 2020 turned out to be a big nothing for us. They tried to gather, but quickly got shut down.
Since then Oklahoma has become a Constitutional Carry and Open Carry state. I avoid downtown OKC on a good day, so I’m not worried about this Saturday because I won’t be anywhere near it.
They likely got shut down in 2020 BECAUSE of your Constitutional and Open Carry Laws. Crime has exponentially been reduced in most if not all jurisdictions that have similar laws. An armed society is a polite society. FAFO is real.
If trapped by a crowd, dont be afraid to use your car as a weapon to make space to get away. Crank your steering wheel to either side all the way, drop it in reverse and gun it. Then get away. You are in fear for your life, seriously, they will kill you and yours if they can drag you out of your vehicle.

I never thought I’d be alive during these times, and certainly nothing like this would occur in my neck of the woods in Lil Ole po dunk hill country texas because I’d moved from Houston where all the crime is, right? Dead Wrong. These elitist scum have been moving people up here rurally for last 8 years who r agitators n sheep who believe the narrative given to them. There has been racial and political tensions at my job n protests all happening within 30 minutes of my house n right near my job. I am an hour away from both Austin and San antonio so we’re getting hit by both cities soros funded bad paid agitators. I’m going to start carrying my gun today, n just leaving in my vehicle along with a bug out bag. My husband unfortunately has to leave for Houston so he’s leaving Friday and packing heat too.
I’m ear hustling at work, 😂 eavesdropping on these young dumb sheeple who are literally talking about going to these protests Saturday and if you are white Christian at my job u r a target for a good tongue lashing from these libtards and actual physical fight broke out in the office with no nothing from upper management. I may well call off on Saturday. Getting that alert usa right now. Governor Abbott literally told these folks on twitter ” f@$k around and find out”. We don’t play here in Texas.
Dont leave your gun in the truck, sis. If the crowd breaks into your truck, they will find the gun.
Yes- and you might have liability for what they do with it. Get a “gun safe” for your vehicle.
I moved to WV from MD last fall and am truly enjoying the freedom to defend one’s self in this wonderful state. No riots here.
Experienced many of riots when living in MD over the years. Worked construction and traveling throughout MD, DC and VA with no shortage of the useful idiots used to staff the riots.
